Final design
Freeze Frame Hotel
This is a picture of my final idea. I have been working in free to download from internet designing application called SketchUp7. I really enjoyed working with this program and I found it quite easy to work on. The positive side of the program is that it makes the designs look very professional and sharp. Unfortunately is very time consuming because is like drawing but on the computer, so I had to drawn all the elements in my design from scratch.
I decided to capture the outside of the building in this angle because I think it really creates very nice effect and it highlights the best aspects of the design. As you can see the glass entrance doors and walls allowing natural light in to the interior plus it brings the outdoors atmosphere in to the inside space. I thing the entrance is very friendly for customers. I decided to use very unconventional type of windows. I think they are very original and bring a lot of light in to the lobby as well by their shape I have tried to capture a movement. In my opinion it worked quite well.
This is a front view of the building and you can see through the glass door the part of interior. Underneath is the same picture but striped from any colour or effects showing the basic lines, structure of the building.
This is a floor plan of the whole building which allows us to see all the elements of the building. Looking at the bottom right of the picture we can notice a sitting area, six tables witch carved benches. Then going up we can see very interesting shape which in fact is a floor aquarium. On the same level on the left we can see oval shaped reception desk. Finally on the top left is a central piece staircase leading in to the lift.I think all the elements are working together very well and creating flowing effect. I really like the dynamic of the interior, different shape are making the design very interesting.
Bird view of the same design allowing me to show more details of my interior all the patterns and materials I have used in this building. We can also see the pattern I have drawn in my sketchbook (look ‘my sketchbook work’ post) and then use it in the rugs underneath the tables. Also we can see the details of the floor aquarium.
This is an example of the final staircase in my design leading in to the lift. As you can see the stairs are very unusual shape and we can notice a sculpture on the centre of the structure. By all the elements in this design I was trying to capture the movement and I think because of the original shape it really worked well. I made sure that the steps are not too high and not to wide so they comfortable for the customers to walk on.
This is a close up view at the reception desk. The camera creates a effect of the eye level of the customers so we can see how the design will look in a real life.
